Why Should We Care About Knowing Messiah?
Well, if you are Jewish, then you know that the Jewish people have been waiting for the Messiah for a long, long time. The Messiah is important because He will bring true peace to the world and make all the wrongs right, right? But how will you know when He comes? How will you recognize Him? How will you know the True Messiah when He shows up? How do we even know that there is such a person as the Messiah?
There is only one way to know – through reading the words of the One who will send the Messiah. The T’NAKH (Hebrew Scriptures) contains God’s plan of who, what, where, when and how the Messiah will come. In fact, the same God who created the Jewish people has spoken at great length about the Messiah, His purpose and the plan of His coming, throughout the Hebrew Scriptures.
Why should we care about the Messiah? Because God cared enough to tell us, and He even requires that we understand His plan.
But maybe even for more personal reasons, we should care because there is guaranteed to come a day for each one of us that we shall die, and all that will matter that day is what the truth about life after death is. What we dreamed of or hoped was true during this life will have no influence on what the truth of the afterlife is. The truth will be the truth.
If the Messiah is who the Hebrew Scriptures declare Him to be, then by knowing Him, you will know the truth, and, as it is written, the truth shall set you free. Don't you owe yourself that much?
